Not all gutter cleaning jobs are straightforward. Some properties come to us with years of neglected gutters — packed solid with compacted leaves, thick moss, hardened silt, and even plant growth. These difficult cases require a more intensive approach, and it is something we deal with regularly.
For standard blockages, our high-powered gutter vacuum system does the heavy lifting. It generates enough suction to pull out even wet, compacted debris without damaging the gutter channel. The vacuum is operated from the ground using carbon fibre extension poles, which means we can reach most residential gutters safely without setting foot on a ladder.
For more severe blockages — where debris has solidified into a hard, concrete-like mass — we may need to use hand tools to break up the material before vacuuming it out. This is a careful process that requires skill and patience to avoid damaging the gutter or its fixings.
Overflowing gutters are often caused by blockages in the downpipes rather than the gutter channels themselves. When we encounter a blocked downpipe, we use flexible drain rods and high-pressure water jets to clear the obstruction. In most cases, we can resolve the issue on the same visit.
Properties surrounded by trees — particularly oak, ash, and sycamore — tend to suffer from recurring blockages. If your gutters are filling up more than twice a year, we may recommend the installation of gutter guards or leaf filters to reduce the amount of debris entering the system.
We also see cases where birds have nested inside gutters or downpipes. We remove nests carefully and in compliance with UK wildlife legislation (outside of nesting season). If we discover an active nest during the breeding season, we will advise you on the best course of action.
No matter how bad the blockage, we have the equipment and experience to deal with it. We have cleaned gutters that have not been touched in over a decade, and the results are always impressive.
If your gutters are severely blocked and you are not sure where to start, get in touch. We will come out, assess the situation, and give you a clear plan of action with a free, no-obligation quote.
