A gutter cleaning service should do more than just remove debris. It is also an opportunity to inspect the condition of your guttering system and catch small problems before they turn into expensive repairs. That is why every clean we carry out includes a thorough condition check.
While we are working on your gutters, we inspect every section for signs of damage, wear, and deterioration. This includes checking for cracks in the gutter channel, gaps at the joints, rust on metal gutters, and sagging or misaligned sections.
We pay particular attention to the joints between gutter sections. These are the most common leak points, especially on older properties where the original sealant has dried out and cracked. A leaking joint might not be obvious during dry weather, but it can cause significant water damage to your fascia boards and walls during heavy rain.
Downpipe connections are another area we inspect carefully. Loose or disconnected downpipes can cause water to cascade down your walls rather than flowing into the drain, leading to damp problems inside the property.
We also check the condition of your gutter brackets and fixings. Over time, brackets can work loose, causing the gutter to sag and hold standing water. This extra weight puts further strain on the fixings and can eventually cause the gutter to pull away from the fascia.
If we find any issues, we document them with photographs and include them in our report along with a clear description of the problem and our recommended solution. For minor issues — such as a loose bracket or a small joint leak — we can often carry out the repair during the same visit.
For more significant problems, such as a cracked gutter section or damaged fascia board, we will provide a separate quote for the repair work. We never carry out additional work without your agreement and a clear price.
